Short Biography

David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990 in Miami, Florida) is currently a contestant in the Top 20 on American Idol`s seventh season. He auditioned in San Diego.At the age of 12, Archuleta won the Junior Singers competition on Star Search.David is currently living in Murray, Utah and is a student at Murray High School. He is also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.When he was younger, he suffered partial vocal paralysis.Archuleta`s mother hails from Honduras; thus, much of the music he listened to as a child was Spanish[citation needed] influenced. Other musical influences were John Mayer and Michael Jackson. His favorite American Idol contestant was Elliott Yamin. Like Yamin, Archuleta has said that he wants to infuse his pop selections with a soulful vibe.
